Rainbows and Unexpected Blessings

I95 Rainbows 2013 Hard to believe it’s June. I fell the first week of May, and among various sprains and bruises, I broke my back which required emergency surgery, so the rest of the month is little more than a blur.

But what I do remember, is a warm, wonderful and widespread outpouring of prayers, good thoughts, cards, emails and messages that lifted us up during that hard four weeks when I was getting back on my feet – literally. Writers I’ve called my friends for more than 20 years sent me jokes and cards and good wishes. Once again, I have been reminded of how special and precious my community called “writers” really is.

Here, husband and I are working toward “normal” again – time in my office, time with clients (new and established) and of course the new 2013 collection of Christmas stories, Snowbird Christmas, Vol 2. The stories sent this year are so outstanding, I was blown away! So, in addition to Vol 1 from last year, we’ll also have Vol 2 for this year – two wonderful volumes that will make perfect Christmas “cards” for friends, families and colleagues. For updates, visit www.ontargetwords.com. I believe the new book will be available for sale by August 1.

The picture above is one I snapped last Monday on our drive home, in the pouring rain, from a doctor visit in Jacksonville. I took it as a personal gift from above that great days are ahead – for me and for us all.

Some of the blessings I’m so thankful for, in part because of the fall, are naps, cards from friends near and far, children who find time to call and check in, good books (I’ve had some time to read just for fun,) acupuncture, clients who have become friends, friends who are like family, being able to shampoo my own hair, and being able to tie my own sneakers. (My husband is glad for many of these things, too!)

I wish you wonderful things – like double rainbows and unexpected blessings. I hope during this summer, that you take time to read, write, dance, garden or do whatever helps you realize how valuable you are! God made us perfect for what He has planned for us. May you rest well in the knowledge that ALL of your needs are already met.

Take good care of you.  Nancy Q.
