May is a busy month as schools come to a close, families and friends gather together to remember our military on Memorial Day, and Carmine and I welcome a new son-in-law to the family. I have to say, after sixteen months of plotting, writing, critiquing, editing, re-writing and weekly conspiratorial dinner-meetings, the launch of THE METHOD WRITERS feels right on target! Hope that this visit finds you happy, healthy and full of peace and joy. Somehow, even with all the tough things that life tosses our way, Spring has a way of propelling us headlong into hope, doesn’t it?  It’s no wonder that Easter and Passover are Spring celebrations. Both of those holidays honor events that brought hope to the world thousands of years ago–and still do–and both followed horrifically painful events. As you reach out in love to those in your life, May God bless you with courage, peace, joy and comfort. Those are His promises and He keeps them.

My brother continues to improve with the chemo treatments and we’re celebrating that–and I thank everyone for the emails and prayers on his behalf. Our youngest daughter Jackie Lyn and her fiance Dan will be married in May, and all the rest of the family seems to be healthy, happy and moving in the right direction.   Much change, but that’s how we get from where we are to where we’re supposed to be. I’m glad I’ve finally learned that.

And speaking of moving forward, I’ve finally taken a gigantic leap into the world of book publishing! MURDER IN BLACK AND WHITE, my southern private eye mystery, was sent to my mentor publisher last night, (Richardson Publishing) after much procrastination and indecision–on my part–not theirs.  Will announce release dates shortly and more information on my company, WC Publishing. I have some exciting collaborative invitations coming up for the dynamic writers that I’m blessed to know.

Book one in the new southern inspirational series, has been sent off this week to an interested agent.  MERCIFUL BLESSINGS is the adventure of three middle-aged sisters faced with their own ailing relationship when their father suddenly dies and leaves them up to their necks in a whole lot of old-fashioned chaos. And yes, of course theirs a mystery to solve! Writing partner, JJ Dumont is already working on book two of the series, OLD FAITHFUL. Look for the author name, Lynn Kathleen–that’s us. This is the novel that we completed during NaNoWriMo 2010.

And last, but certainly not least, THE METHOD WRITERS: 4 Writers, 4 Stories, 1 Twisted Novel will be out in May, I believe.  That was written with 3 super talented and energetic authors–and together we’re known as The Rogues Gallery Writers.  Talented author/blogger Rebekah Hunter-Scott is a Rogue, too, but she’s been on a “mommy” sebatical, which gave me the opportunity to fill in. Clear View Press hasn’t given us a concrete release date yet, but I’ll announce it on Facebook when I get it!

I sure hope this finds you happy and well.  Carm and I, the daughters and grandkids, are all doing just fine and we’re looking forward to a visit with them all in the spring.

In November, the Rogues Gallery Writers, of which I am one, finished our 4-in-1 novel, The Method Writers. We are currently completing the editing process and are about ready to send it to the professional editor for polish and line editing.  We’re super excited about the book though – our Beta readers gave us terrific feedback. Hope you’ll get a copy when it’s released later this spring! Also, book one in the Amazing Grace Trucking Series is done.  “Merciful Blessing” is the first book in this southern inspirational series about three sisters who have a lot to learn about forgiveness so they can move forward with their lives.  My writing partner on this series is JJ Dumont in New Jersey and we’ll be sending this proposal this month, to an agent who has already requested it.  Our pen name is Lynn Kathleen and we hope to make that a household name someday!!  “Books that are good for your heart!!”

Family and friends are racking up beautiful grandchildren, along with the wonderful photos and stories! Our youngest grand has graduated from Army crawl to up-on-all-fours crawl.  His older brother is in his third month of “school” and he loves it. That bright mind and very active body give the teachers stories of their own much to his mother’s dismay.  I get to chuckle and remember when SHE was the one the teachers talked about.  Beautiful in body, mind and spirit, we love them all tremendously.

The Double Q is getting ready for winter with a fresh cut and trim. We’ll have to get a truckload of mulch soon to protect the plants from winter cold, though hard to imagine when the roses have just bloomed again. But, the leaves have turned and are falling with every good gust of wind. Winter is right around the corner, just like Christmas.

Not sure about you, but I’m not at all sure where the summer went! I hope that yours was full of good things – the stuff good memories are made of!

We didn’t travel this summer, but enjoyed some lovely mornings on the deck in the quiet with the hawks flying overhead. Now we’re blessed with evenings when the temperatures settle in the high 70’s and we can sit outside and listen to the frogs and cicadas sing. Life at the Double Q is peaceful and good, praise God!

I’ve also been blessed with some exciting writing projects. The Rogues Gallery Writer’s project is going well and Method Writers may be published before Christmas! My new author website is up and ON-TARGET WORDS has a new website, too. The business is steadily growing and the opportunity to work with such creative and talented people is truly a gift I treasure. Book two, OLD FAITHFUL has been started and we’ll complete our draft this November during NA-NO-WRI-MO.

I hope you’re all well and enjoying the summer we’ve been waiting for! Daughter Eryka and her husband Mark took the boys, ages 3 and 3 months, camping this weekend in the Catskills. She has a new appreciation for those camping trips we did when she and her sister were little. LOL. And, despite all the possible calamities, camping is a wonderful way to spend time together and they are home safe and sound. Tired yes, but they have some good camping memories of their own.

MERCIFUL BLESSINGS, is still in edit mode, slowed by the daily work/life schedule of the authors. We do plan to get through it before school resumes for JJ in September. I’m submitting MIRACLE BOY into the Royal Palm Literary Awards competition, but it will be my only entry this year aside from the Rogues Gallery Writer submission, THE METHOD WRITERS. MURDER IN BLACK AND WHITE is headed for an editor’s desk this week after a long submission sabatical.

I hope you get out and enjoy food, fun and family/friends as often as you can. Before you know it, we’ll be putting in fire wood and tucking away shorts and tee shirts. Time flies – I hope that your time is spent making wonderful  memories!

Carm’s goddaughter had another baby girl a few weeks ago; daughters called
from Pocono’s today to tell us that their April Fool’s Day joke was five more
inches of snow from Mother Nature. They are not amused.

We’re expecting grandson Mason the first week of May. My visit with Casey,
Eryka and Mark was great fun, though we spent some time with people we’re
glad we don’t have to spend MORE time with. To quote Billy Currington, “God
is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.”    

The new rose bushes are glorious, the bottle brush are budding and the Indian
hawthornes are beginning to show some white blossoms, despite our frigid
winter just past.

I’m working on two exciting collaborative writing projects:  The Method
Writers novel with the Rogues Gallery Writers, and The Amazing Grace
Trucking Company series with JJ Dumont. This month’s guest blogger  on
Guest Blogger Wednesday, will be Sharon Buck, owner of Social Media
Counts.

So enjoy the month of April and keep looking for bright spots. Remember,
flowers will be on their way very soon.
